The very first word revealed in the Qur’an was Iqra – Read.
-Not pray,
-not fast,
-not give,
- but read.
That one word carries the weight of a civilization that was meant to rise through knowledge.
Even the first object shown to our father, Adam عليه السلام, was a pen – a symbol of writing, learning, and passing down wisdom.
In Islam, the pen is honored, the ink of scholars is valued, and seeking knowledge is an obligation
Doesn’t this tell us how much value Islam gives to knowledge and learning?
As someone who has always cherished collecting books, scribbling down reflections, and seeking knowledge—I can vouch for this: Reading gives life to your mind.
It lets you live many lives, taste many emotions, feel many journeys.
It matures you without you even realizing it.
It opens your eyes to truths you didn’t know you were blind to.
And what better book to read than the Qur’an?
I still remember the turning point in my life.
It was the first day of Ramadan.
I was in my rebellious phase, disconnected… and then, by chance—or rather, by Allah’s mercy—I stumbled upon the meaning of Surah Yaseen.
The words hit deep. It was like a shock to my heart. I never knew the Qur’an *
spoke like this.
That revelation changed everything.
I went on to read the entire translation of the Qur’an before that Ramadan ended.
It gave me clarity.
It broke the illusions of this world I was running after.
As someone who was always ambitious, always dreaming big—it was shocking to me that I now wanted something else. Something eternal. A different path.
Reading gave me that.
Reading the Qur’an gave me myself*.
So today, I invite you too:
📖 Read.
🔍 Understand.
🧠 Reflect.
You’ll be amazed at the wonders it does.
It’ll give you strength to say Alhamdulillah even in the darkest of nights.
It’ll pull you away from the illusions of “fitnagram” and bring your heart back to the One who created it.
Start with the Book that started it all.
And let your story begin.
